The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is equal parts truck and trailblazer, making it just as capable off-road as cruising down the highway. While the Gladiator may appeal to you for its Trail Rated badge, have you considered how much it can haul? After all, the Gladiator is part truck with a bed that also offers additional payload capabilities. Let’s examine the 2022 Jeep Gladiator’s towing capacity and some other exciting features.

2022 Jeep Gladiator Trims Available

You can purchase the 2022 Jeep Gladiator in nine trims: Sport, Willys Sport, Sport S, Altitude, Willys, Overland, Rubicon, Mojave, and High Altitude. Standard features include 17-inch steel wheels with 32-inch tires and a damped tailgate. You also get a soft folding top, removable doors, and a fold-down front windshield for that famous Jeep open-air experience. Features available on higher trims include automatic headlights, rear privacy glass, heated power mirrors, power locks, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The off-road-ready Rubicon adds fenders with increased clearance, body-protecting rock rails and skid plates, and 17-inch wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires. You get a reinforced frame and Desert Rated badge on the Mojave. All trims can be equipped with a spray-in bedliner and black hardtop with removable roof panels or a premium soft top. Additional features available as stand-alone items or in packages include LED headlights and a Class IV tow hitch.

2022 Jeep Gladiator Power and Performance

You can choose between two engines and two transmissions, depending on trim level. All trims come standard with a 3.6-liter V-6 that delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, but most trims can upgrade to a 3.0-liter diesel-powered V-6 for 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6-liter engine comes with a standard six-speed manual transmission (6MT), which can be swapped out for an eight-speed automatic transmission (8AT). The diesel only uses the automatic transmission and is not available on the Sport or Mojave.

Performance features include trailer sway damping that adjusts the vehicle brakes to help control trailer movement if the trailer starts to sway. The Rubicon features a 4.10 rear axle ratio for increased towing and off-road capability, locking front and rear differentials, an electronically disconnecting front stabilizer bar, a special two-speed transfer case for better off-road gearing, and Fox shock absorbers. On the Mojave, you get a transfer case tuned to run the four-wheel drive at higher speeds, a 1-inch lift for the front suspension, and Fox internal bypass shock absorbers with hydraulic jounce bumpers.

You can also add a front-facing camera to watch what’s ahead of you on the trail in your Gladiator. Regardless of the trim level you go with, your Gladiator is sure to turn heads on and off the road with its performance.
